JAMES ROWSE

James studied Fine Art at Reading University and began painting scenery in 1988, working on a feature film at Shepparton Film Studios. He took a postgraduate diploma in Theatre Design and after completing the course was employed as scenic artist at The Belgrade Theatre, Coventry.

In 1995, after a move to London, James began working as a freelance scenic artist. He worked for a number of scenery building companies including Kimpton Walker Ltd, where he worked on many west end musicals. He also worked with Roy and Alison Hardy at English National Ballet's scenic studio. As well as producing work for theatre, James worked on a number of films including Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and TV shows such as Absolutely Fabulous and the Children's drama Worst Witch. In 2005 James set up DAP Studio.

DAP STUDIO

Over the last fifteen years DAP Studio has painted scenery and backdrops for a wide range of productions both in the UK and overseas. Clients include Glyndebourne, English National Opera, The Donmar Warehouse, Shakespeare's Globe, The Almeida Theatre and Chichester Festival Theatre. They have painted work for the West End, UK and European tours and have painted a number of productions for America.

As well as working on theatre projects James has undertaken a variety of mural paintings for both public and private buildings. He has also painted work for TV productions, museums, and the music industry. He has also painted work for fine artists including work for Tony Oursler at the Lisson Gallery.
